The Statewide strike by APSRTC called by the Joint Action Committee, the RTC managed to run a good number of services though nearly all the employees stayed away from the work. Nearly 5400 staff in the district including supervisors abstained from work with only depot managers and other senior officials attending duty. In the evening RTC reported plying of an overall 68 per cent services in the district while 75 percent in rural areas.
The District Collector, Praveen Prakash visited RTC Bus station reviewed the situation with the Regional Manager, D.Satyanarayana supervised the running of buses and enquired from passengers about the services. All kinds of private vehicles viz., jeeps, cars, taxis, mini buses which include vehicles like Sumo and Qualis will be accorded temporary permit on payment of Rs.100 per day according to a press release.
