Visakhapatnam, November 16, 2005
The first petition registered with the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority under the Right to Information Act could not get the required information within the stipulated period of 30 days.
The applicant S.Bhujanga Rao alleged that the authorities failed to furnish a certified copy of the layout plan of the VUDA housing and rehabilitation colony in Gajuwaka Municipality. The colony is coming up on an extent of 17.5 acres.
He said in a press conference that he had applied for the copy of the layout through proper channel by enclosing a demand draft for Rs.500 on October 15 three days after the Act came into being and on the same day, the VUDA issued the acknowledgement. Even after the stipulated period is over, VUDA could not provide information.
