Telephone Call Diversion racket bused
Visakhapatnam, November 12, 2005
An international telephone call diversion racket was busted by the police on Friday night after the arrest of DRRG Krishnam Raju and four others. The Deputy Police Commissioner of Police, V Ravinder told the reporters on Saturday that the gang was involved in diverting international calls from abroad by using electronic gadgets though Internet.
According to him, the racket is under operation for the last ten months and has caused a revenue loss of Rs.5 crores to the Government. The victims are operating from Sai Sadan Apartments in Dwarakanagar by using prepaid SIM cards of private mobile operators.
During the raid conducted by the vigilance wing of the Department of Telecommunications, the police seized cash amounting to Rs.2.25 lakhs, 110 Idea and 10 Airtel SIM Cards eight voice over Internet protocol gateways, 56 GSM routers, one laptop and a car. The police are investigating the case.
