Rotary International District 3020 will lay emphasis on water management programs during the current year also take up wok in rural areas under its Rotary Government Interface program. District Governor MC Das told reporters on Sunday that the water management program had been taken up following the emphasis given to it by Rotary International President Carl Wihelm Stenhammar. Each Club in the six coastal districts would take up one water management program on reviving a defunct tank, de-silting a water body or organizing seminars and workshops.
Mr.Das said that under the RAGI program, Rotary had entered into a memorandum of Understanding with the Government. A meeting was held in August at Vizianagaram with the DRDA Project Directors f the three north Coastal districts and the CEO of Rural Development of the State Government and a committee had been formed with the District Governor Designate Chaya Devi.
He said in the flood affected areas of the six districts a fourth generation antibiotics worth Rs.20 crores were distributed by AMERICARES, a health NGO through IMPACT India.
