Visakhapatnam, November 2, 2005
Sagar Manjusha, a buoy tender-cum-research vessel built by the Hindustan Shipyard for the National Institute of Ocean Technology will be launched on Thursday. The 145th vessel to slide from the berths of Hindustan Shipyard is fully air-conditioned and can accommodate 11 scientists, eight officers and 10 crew members.
Sagar Manjusha is powered by two main engines and reach a speed of 11.5 knots. It is equipped with three generators of 296 KVA each according to a Hindustan Shipyard press release. The Secretary to the Central Government’s department of Ocean Development PS Goel will be the chief guest of the function.
