The police searched some buildings on Andhra University campus on Tuesday afternoon following telephone calls which warned of some bombs were planted on the campus. However, the threat tuned to be a hoax. The police searched the Central Administrative Building, Geology Department and few other buildings with the help of a bomb squad, the CLUES team and a dog squad.
It is learnt that a person calling himself Ramakanth called the Geology Department around 1pm and said that some bombs were planted on the campus and they would blast at 2pm.
The bombs were planted in protest against the High Court judgment striking down reservations for Muslims, he told. The faculty member informed the Registrar, P.Vijaya Prakash who informed the police. Almost at the same time a similar call was received at the Police Control Room.
