VizagNews.com - Fishermen oppose VUDA notification

Visakha Zilla Sampradaya Matsyakarula Samakya has opposed the issue of a notification by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority for widening of the Bheemunipatnam beach road between 6thkm and 9th km. points in violation of the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.

In this connection, it may be recalled that the High Court in its judgment in 2003 had noted that the report of the National Institute of Oceanography and guidelines of the MoEF have to be compiled with in the execution of road widening program.

The Court had permitted VUDA to take up widening only CRZ-III but latter had called tenders for taking up of the works in CRZ-I and in the no development zone. They threatened that the proposal has to be cancelled, failing with the federation would be forced to approach the Court again.
