The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has asked the Transport Department to implement the ban on plying auto rickshaws on the National Highway.
The Executive Director of Vizianagaram Zone of the APSRTC, C.Damodara Das has raised the point at the Zonal Advisory Committee meeting held on Friday. Deputy Transport Commissioner S.Venkateswara Rao said that the order would be implemented though the Department was under staffed.
Regarding the request of APSRTC to repair the roads damaged due to recent rains and floods to avoid damaged to tyres and springs and reduce diesel consumption, the Panchayat Raj and R&B officials said that the repairs were being taken up on a priority basis. Regional Managers of APSRTC’s Visakhapatnam and East Godavari Regions and other top officials attended the meeting.
