The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation has started call centre for speedy redress of civic problems just by dialing 1913. The automatic complaint booking system records the problems on computer and automatically an SMS goes to the official concerned. If the problem is not rectified within 24 hours, it will go to the next level again by SMS.
If it still persists, the forth day it reaches the Municipal Commissioner. It is the first of its kind in the State doing away with the trouble of citizen going to the office to lodge a complaint. The Project Director of Urban Community Development M.Seshagiri Babu who has supervised the installation of the system. The centre works from 6am to 8pm.
