Visakhapatnam, May 19, 2005
The Ministry of Environment and Forests has directed Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority to allow construction on the Singapore Township Project in Madhurawada village only after obtaining a no objection certificate from the Department of Archaeology. The AP Pollution Control Board has already accorded environmental clearance to the project after holding a public hearing on April 19 with some conditions. Jurong is yet to ground the work on the mega project despite laying of the foundation stone by the Chief Minister. It also wanted that due to location of the waste disposal site within twenty km radius of the airport, clearance should be obtained from the airport authorities.
