Visakhapatnam, May 15, 2005
The Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation ( VMC) is keeping its eye on the prestigious Standardisation Testing and Quality Control (STQC) certification. Andhra University College of Engineering has taken up the task of writing user manuals, Software Requirements Specification ( SRS) and Documentation for projects that come under VMC including 'Saukaryam' and e-Seva centres. The entire process is expected to be complete in three months time.
Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering Prof. PS Avadhani said that the task of examining 500 to 600 tables designed by the VMC Software Division will be studied first.
If Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation succeeds in getting the certification, it will become the first Municipality to do so.
Rambabu, Officer On Special Duty (OSD), IT wing of VMC said, “If the task is completed by CSSE once, we will present that before the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India for STQC certification”.
