The management of Chittivalasa Jute Mills has justified the declaration of lockout following the continuation of strike by its employees.
Reacting to the statement made by the CITU State president, Ch.Narasinga Rao, the management denied reduction in the wages of any employee.
The management said that after fixing the wage structure for the new staff to be employed as badlis, they had recruited apprentices in a new category of badlis with a promise to pay them Rs.85 per day with house rent allowance at five percent and with a provision for half yearly increments.
In the release, the management said that the earnings of new workers would go up substantially and the rate of wages fixed for these badlis were not lower than the wages prevailing else where in the State for similar category.
