Houses will be built on the entire 1.2 acres of land at Siva Sankar Colony at Tatichetlapalem where pucca houses were demolished on Monday. At a press conference on Wednesday, the Municipal Commissioner, N.Srikanth said that it was a part of the housing programme just as it was taken up at Chittibabu Colony and other areas.
And the process for finalizing beneficiaries was followed. A housing colony had been planned in the colony after taking the consent of the beneficiaries as part of 1000 houses sanctioned for the city, he said.
He categorically stated that the site was not meant for any other purpose and denied that there was pressure to give seventy cents of the land to an individual. The demolition was taken up after the Housing Board authorities sought it for taking up construction of 270 units.
