Visakhapatnam, June 22, 2005
The Union Ministry of Environment has given the environmental clearance for the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority’s mega housing project at Madhurawada. The MoEF, in a recent letter informed the VUDA Vice-Chairman that the project for construction of 1672 MIG and 330 HIG flats on an area of 40 acres had been accorded clearance as per the provision of environment impact assessment notification of 1994 subject to the strict compliance of certain terms and conditions.
The Ministry made it clear that as the proposed site falls in the peripheral area of a protected Buddhist monument, VUDA shall take steps to keep the Department of Archaeology informed on the project activities during the construction period.
