English Medium instruction has been introduced in the schools run by the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam. English education will be available for pupils of standard I and II from the current academic year in all the elementary and upper primary schools.

Inaugurating the programme and a motivation seminar for the Vidyarthi committees and teachers on Monday, the Municipal Commissioner, N.Srikanth said that parents belonging to all sections of society had realized the fact that without an English medium background, the future would be bleak.

The Additional Municipal Commissioner, P.Asha Jyothi said that just because of introduction of English medium, they would not neglect teaching Telugu and equal importance would be given to both the languages.
