A special ward has been set up in the KGH to admit patients afflicted by various types of fevers in the agency areas. The ward will be operational in a day or two. As an urgent measure to contain the spread of malaria, viral fever, typhoid, jaundice, gastroenteritis and other ailments in the agency area of the district, the KGH authorities have launched work on a tele-medicine link from the hospital with Narsipatnam and Paderu.
The KGH authorities have confirmed the death of five tribals due to malaria. At present, ten persons were in critical condition. A special cell has been set up with the Superintendent as in charge and Professor of medicine, MVRJ Somayajulu as the coordinator to compile records on the various types of fevers detected in patients, cause of death if any and carry out investigations free of cost.
If a particular facility is not available, it will be done outside at a private center with Rs.3 lakhs released by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency. Dr.Ganeswarararao said that duty doctors would run the special ward round the clock and a separate room will also set up for out patients.
