The Visakha Steel Employees Congress has asked the Ministry of Steel to confer Mini Ratna status on RINL-Visakhapatnam. During an interaction with the unions and associations on Saturday, VSEC president G.Venkatarao and its working president Y.Masthanappa asked the Joint Secretary JP Singh and Deputy Secretary N.Vijayalakshmi to implement the promise made by the Union Minister for Steel, Ram Vila Paswan in 2004. Officials who inspected the production units were impressed with the functioning of blast furnaces and expressed their keen interest on the technologies adopted by the Steel Plant.
