The State Government has released Rs. 4.2 crores as Diesel Subsidy for Fishing Boat Operators. Announcing this on Wednesday, the Principal Secretary for Fisheries, S.Chelalappa said it was part of the arrears payable from October last year.
The orders for payment of the balance amount would be released in a couple of days he said. He was addressing a seminar on ‘Tuna resources and resource specific deep sea fishing vessels, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries in the Union Ministry of Agriculture, in association with Fishery Survey of India.
