Visakhapatnam, July 8, 2005
The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued an interim stay on the mega housing project being taken up by the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority in association with Korean company Jurong.
The Buddha Vihara Foundation on Friday welcomed the stay order. Buddhist organizations had been opposing the project’s area extending into the 300 meters zone form the Buddhist protected monument.
The Secretary of the foundation, BS Chalam said at a press conference regretted that the VUDA decided to construct the project extending into a 3 rd century BC Buddhist site.
