Visakhapatnam, July 1, 2005
Visakha Nagara Poura Samkshema Sangham has demanded the Municipal Corporation to supply drinking water on a daily basis.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Sangham secretary A.Suresh said that in 2003, when all the reservoirs had dried up, the Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam (MCV) supplied drinking water on alternate days. But the explanation given by the MCV is not reasonable. He said why MCV could not make the necessary arrangements when there was water scarcity in 2003 itself.
Also it had been claiming for the past one year that the Godavari project was nearing completion. But as the project got delayed, it seemed to escalate the costs and crate an artificial scarcity for water, he alleged.
