Deadline set up by the international Maritime Organization

The Dredging Corporation of India has complied with the International Ship and Port Facility Security code. The deadline set up by the international Maritime Organization in the wake of 9/11 terror attacks on the US was met before the deadline, a DCI spokesman declared. The code was recommended to ensure security of passengers and crew members in all ocean going vessels. The code is mandatory for all ships on international voyages and port facilities serving such ships to comply before 1st July 2004 and for all coastal vessels like dredgers operating in Indian waters before December 31st 2004.
