Work would be taken up within two months
The high level committee set up to tackle the traffic problems in the city has decided to widen the roads at 19 main points in the city. The work would be taken up within two months and completed by this year end according to Police Department spokesman. Illuminated signboards and high mast lights would be set up at all the main junctions and important places like Railway Station and RTC Complex. Another decision was that at the time of issuing driving licenses to auto rickshaw drivers, the latter should be tested on traffic awareness. Fines imposed for traffic violations may be collected through eSeva Kendras. The meeting held on Wednesday night chaired by the District Collector, Praveen Prakash, the committee chairman. Other top officials have participated in the meeting.
