Over 20,000 participate in Vizag Run

The Beach Road that is normally dotted by a sweating joggers and walkers early in the morning was bursting at its seams to hold over 20,000 people who participated in the World Telugu Federation sponsored Vizag Run on Sunday morning. The crowd was an assorted mix of teenage boys and girls, middle aged executives, tiny tots, young couples and a few oldies who accompanied their grand children. The Commissioner of Police VSK Kaumudi and the VUDA Chairman PSN Raju flagged off the 10km race. Motivating runners were the District Collector, Praveen Prakash and Mr.Kaumudi.

A host of celebrities comprising comedian Siva Reddy, actor Sai Kumar, Rohit and Tarakaratna entertained the crowd with their occasional jig and dialogue. Former Test cricketer Venkatapati Raju and Badminton Champion Gopichand also participated in the race. According to a WTF official, over 40 schools and 30 corporate companies like HDFC, ICICI, TATA Indicom and Vizag Steel hand sent their teams for the race.
