Visakha Utsav scheduled for December 25

Visakha Utsav 2005, the festival of Visakhapatnam, is now scheduled from December 25 according to the District Collector and Utsav Committee Chairman Praveen Prakash. At a meeting held on Saturday with the officials and chiefs of various Utsav sub committees at the Collectorate, he said that the original dates had been changed for operational reasons.
The four-day festival is organized with the objective to provide wholesome entertainment to the poor and lower middle class people free of cost besides promoting Visakhapatnam as a tourist destination. Vijju, the Dolphin, is picked as the official mascot of the Visakha Utsav 2005. Three exhibitions will be featured at the main venues. The Rama Krishna Beach will host Food stalls. A second exhibition, Jaatara, will feature Handicrafts while the third features a rare photographs exhibition on Visakhapatnam at the Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium.
The APSRTC Regional Manager, D.Satyanarayana said that the Road Transport Corporation would arrange additional buses and increased trips to take people to different venues from various parts of the district. VUDA Vice Chairman G.Venkataram Reddy who is also the Utsav Committee Vice Chairman appealed to officials and non-officials to make the Utsav a grand success.
