Visakha Utsav will now be a five day festival starting January 8, 2006

Visakha Utsav scheduled to be held from December 25, 2005 has been postponed and will be held for five days from January 8, 2006 according to the District Collector, Praveen Prakash said on Wednesday. The ongoing repairs to the Beach Road and the road widening work in progress in the city were the reasons for postponing the Visakha Utsav he explained.

Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna and the ruling party MLAs were also not reportedly against conducting the festival from December 25 in view of the works not showing any sign of being completed in time for the festival. The District Collector formed various committees to conduct the festival and a publicity campaign was also launched in other parts of the State.
