ADR is the need of the hour for routine cases - says Supreme Court Justice
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods are the need of the hour and with the court having the power to routinely matters to ADR methods there is every possibility of win situations emerging Supreme Court Judge SB Sinha said.
He said that the Supreme Court, April 2005, had initiated the implementation of ADR Law by establishing a Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee to oversee the implementation of ADR in its Courts. The Delhi pilot project began in the lower courts to an additional lower court in December 2005. As part of the pilot project, 30 judicial officers were trained by experts from San Francisco and California. Justice Sinha was addressing participants of the certificate course on Section 89 organized by the International Centre for Alternative Dispute Revolution in collaboration with NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, and GITAM Institute of Foreign Trade on the 'Relevance of newly inserted Section 89 I the Civil Procedure Code for resolution of disputes outside the court on Sunday evening.
