The puja to Goddess Sri Kanakamahalakshmi on the first Thursday of the Margasira festival considered significant begins at midnight. It is estimated at one to 1.5 lakh devotees offer prayers on Thursday alone. Giving information at a press conference on the eve of the first Thursday, the Executive Officer and Endowments Department Commissioner Ch Babu Rao and Trust Board Chairman Vankayala Sanyasi Raju disclosed the plans for construction of a queue complex for the temple.
They said that nearly 10 lakh devotees were expected to worship the Goddess during the month long festival up to December 31. All arrangements have been made for the smooth conduct of the festival. On all four Thursdays, free buses would be run from Simhachalam to the temple.
On the Rs.1,116 ticket, a couple would be allowed for Visishta Darshan on all the Thursdays of the month.
