A representation was submitted to the Governor on Sunday on construction of mega housing project by Jurong (India) Constructions on a Buddhist site by the Visakha Buddha Upasaka Sabha and the Governor deiced the officials concerned to furnish the relevant information to the Government. The president of VBUS president and retired Deputy Collector Y.Ramayya later said that the Governor expressed his concern over the bid to project that the land given to Jurong for constructing mega housing project in Madhurawada village was not a Buddhist site by showing the wrong survey number.
The representation stated that the VUDA had recently accorded permission to Jurong and approved layout on the rear-side of the sacred site held in high esteem by the Buddhists. The representation explained that the fact was misrepresented to be in the limits of an adjoining Kapulauppada and resurveyed as Survey No. 314 in the same village.
As such, they approved the VUDA Layout in respect of the Bavikonda settlement which is within the protected archaeological limits of that settlement which is wrong, it claimed.
