Ministry of External Affairs introduces decentralization scheme
The Ministry of External Affairs had introduced the decentralization scheme of the passport services to take them closer to applicants' door steps according to Passport Officer Abhilasha Joshi. She said that the main aim was to increase the channels of submission of passport application forms and to educe the distance and time traveled by applicants.
The Passport applicants can now directly submit applications at the District Passport Clls situated at the offices of SP at Eluru, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam and the Police Commissionerate in the city, she said. The advantage of this new process was that the DCPs, after receiving the applications, would complete the police verification and send the applications to the Passport Office thus saving a lot of time, she explained.
