The Government of Andhra Pradesh will set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) atop two hillocks at Rushikonda exclusively for information and technology units.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh will set up Special Economic Zones (SEZs) atop two hillocks at Rushikonda exclusively for information and technology units. The Secretary in the Information and Communication Technology Department, K Ratnaprabha speaking to reporters that after a review meeting with entrepreneurs and officials on Saturday said that the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) would be entrusted with the job to develop layouts for the two SEZs.

She said that the zones will be developed on area of 100 acres Fourteen IT units have already been allotted 59 acres in Rushikonda. She said interested investors should have a good track record, with employee strength of 200 for atleast two years. For first generation entrepreneurs, two IT parks on in the heart of the city and another at Yendada would be set up. VUDA will become the first urban development authority in the country to develop a layout exclusively for IT specific SEZ with world class infrastructure, she said. She said all benefits as envisaged in the recently enacted SEZ Bill would be passed on to the entrepreneurs.
