The Andhra University (AU) is proposing to construct a R.3.5 crore Guest House and Rs.2 crores Building for its Microbiology and Bio-technology Departments.
These proposals would be discussed during the newly formed Executive Council meeting held on Friday. The Vice Chancellor, L Veugopal Reddy told reporters on Wednesday. There was plan to construct a new building for the canteen at the existing main canteen on the south campus while the university's Internet Centre w\\would be established at Gandhi Bhavan on the engineering college campus. He said that the new guest house will come up facing the sea near the building of AU School of Distance Education. It will also have two big air conditioned seminar halls.
The expert committee constituted by the union Ministry of Human Resource Development to explore the possibility of elevating the Andhra University College of Engineering to the Indian Institute of Technology status has expressed satisfaction with the facilities available at the college and the college and the response from its faculty, students and administration. There is likely hood of the college getting IIT Status according the Vice Chancellor.
