A new low cost accident insurance policy for engineering college students is being promoted by AP State Trading Corporation Limited in association with the United India Insurance Company.
This insurance policy covers engineering students and their parents at a very low premium of 50 paise a day and aims at uninterrupted study of an insured student in the unfortunate event of the accidental death of the earning parent according to the APSRTC Deputy General Manager, VL Ramana Murthy in a statement. The premium payable for the entire four year study works out to be Rs.680 only. In case of any untoward incident happens, the insurance company will pay Rs.3 lakhs to the nominee, besides reimbursing the tuition fee payable by the student for the balance period of study not exceeding Rs.25,000/- a year against production of receipts.
