Former Prime Minister Sri P V Narasimha Rao visited Visakhapatnam on a 2-day trip. He arrived in a flight from Hyderabad and went directly to Government Guest House. When the press went to meet him, he discussed on various issues and asked questions to the Press in return. He enquired about the Food for Work program in the district and how much money was spent under the program and who is the current Vice Chancellor for Andhra University. He felt that Professors have to work on research and come out with ideas that could cut costs and development new things that make life easier.
BSNL announced that those who did not take the new Telephone Directory can take up the same from specially setup 14 counters between April 8 - 12, 2002. Speaking at a press conference, GM Operations - Mr. G Muralidhar said that Visakhapatnam will be getting WLL (Wireless in Local Loop) facility soon.
