The University Grants Commission has sanctioned Rs. 50 Lakhs for the construction of Platinum Jubliee Guest House to Andhra University. Registrar Prof J M Naidu thanked the UGC and for the same.
VUDA announced that the widening of the road between Visakhapatnam - Bheimili works was sanctioned by the state Government and that works will be begin at the earliest. Speaking with the press, VUDA Vice-Chairman Sri S G K Kishore said that the maintenance of the Submarine Museum will cost Rs. 25 Lakhs a year and that VUDA has to chalk out plans to receive as much as Rs. 2 Lakhs a month.
Fond farewell was given to the former Commissioner of Police Mr. A K Khan who was transferred to Hyderabad. A function to this effect took place at Kinnera Arts Theater. Eminent personalities of the city were presented and lauded the efforts made by Mr. Khan in moulding Visakhapatnam as a peaceful and crime-free city.
