Vice - Chancellor of Andhra University Prof. YC Simhadri launched the transmission of 'Gyanvani' - a radio channel of School of Distance Education, Andhra University. Mr. Mahmod Khan will be the station director of the channel. Director of School of Distance Education Mr. D Harinarayana and Joint Director of IGNOU Mr. Ravi Kanth were present at the programme.

The National Assessment and Accredition Council (NAAC) which visited and was evaluating the performance of various departments of the Andhra University felt that several Inter-Disciplinary departments into schools. The team inspected office of the Registrar, Principals of Campus colleges AUCET etc.

The Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology Sri. Ch Ayyanna Patrudu inaugurated the Gruhamitra scheme at Sri Sitarama Consumer Co-operative stores in Visakhapatnam on the ugadi day. The Gruhamitra outlets will be selling over 85 products approved by the Government with a price of 8-10% less than the market price.
