Indian Medical Association, Visakhapatnam Chapter held an Emergency meeting to discuss about Govt. plans to auction some of the lands of various Medical centers in Vizag.

Jana Sikshana Samsthan selected Mangapuram Colony as their area to hold Literacy Camp to achieve high literacy rates in the area. They will hold rallies and various literacy programs to do this.

Prof. Ikbal, Prinicpal - AU College of Science & Technology announced that Second Phase Counselling & Admissions for various PG Colleges in AU Region will be held from Sep 12th. He also announced that 24 more seats were added to MPR Degree College, Gajuwaka in Microbiology, 30 seats in Maths for Rajiv Gandhi College, Kakinada, 6 seats in Applied Maths at Pydah College, 6 seats in Electricals at Gayathri Vidya Parishad.

24th AP State Physicians Conference held at Taj Residency. Mayor Mrs. Rajana Ramani presided over the function. Dr. Pranava Murthy, Superindent, KDHospital spoke on the occasion. Dr. Venu Gopal inaugurated the Sovernier. This was the third time that Visakhapatnam was chosen as the venue for the meeting.

Income Tax Commissioner Mr. Padmanabhan held a press conference today. He said that Rs. 380 Crores was collected till Aug 2000 end through taxes and that the target for tax collections for current year was Rs. 1432 Crores.
