The Department |
The Institute of Public Sector Management, started as a project of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi during 1995-96 is an integral part of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies, Andhra University with the main objective of inculcating the spirit of work culture among the employees right from the grass-root level in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) including Central and State Government Offices through teaching, training, research and consultancy programmes for social and economic change in the region.
Prof. V Balamohandas, Prof. D Panduranga Rao and Dr. B J Stanley of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies have been appointed as the Director, Co-Director and Joint Director respectively to manage the Institute Affairs. Advisory Committee of the Institute consists of all the Chief Executives of the major local Public Sector Units (PSUs), besides the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University as Chairman and Director of the Institute as Convenor. The Co-Director and the Joint Director of the Institute and the Head of the Department of Commerce and Management Studies are also members of the Advisory Committee.
Objectives of the Institute
1. Organising Seminars / Symposia and Workshops in the area of Public Sector Management
2. Offering Certificate Courses in different functional areas of management with relevance to Public Sector Enterprises
3. Conducting Short Term Training Programmes with emphasis of Public Sector Units and
4. Encouraging micro level studies for Doctoral Research
